Practical Ethics is many things at the same time.

As Socrates notes, ethics is indispensable to human life, providing guidance for 'how we ought to live' (Plato, Republic, 352:d). Practical Ethics is a key resource in helping us meet his challenge, and in the process, create a better world.

Here you will find a growing body of information, images and resources exploring the importance of ethics in our world. The Blog and Ethos are the newest features. Ethos is my syndicated column on ethics. The blog features ethics-related posts about current events, upcoming conferences, important resources, and publications. We have a growing line-up of contributing editors to the blog, whose diverse perspectives and posts makes for fascinating reading.

Technical Notes

A major change in the works is the migration of the entire website into xhtml and cascading stylesheets. Only the blog has made this transition so far. Once completed, I hope this makes Practical Ethics even more visually appealing and user friendly. I am also migrating image credits to the bottom of their respective page.

Finally this site is optimized to work with Firefox and Safari. Browsers that do not implement clean xhtml, for example Internet Explorer, may not work well.
