Practical Ethics

'We are discussing no small matter, but how we ought to live'
Socrates, from Plato's Republic, Book 1:352d.

Bringing Ethics to Life

Welcome to Practical Ethics, where we bring ethics to life, creating greater well-being for people, animals and nature.

Practical Ethics is many things at the same time.

As Socrates notes, ethics is indispensable to human life, providing guidance for 'how we ought to live' (Plato, Republic, 352:d). Thinking through and acting up our moral responsibilities is quite a challenge. Practical Ethics is a key resource in helping us meet this challenge, and in the process, creating a better world.

Practical Ethics, Ethos and Muse are undergoing a substantial redesign. Please bear with me as I transition the content, function and structure of the website and its associated blog and gallery. All of the pages are being re-edited and in some cases re-written. One change you will note immediately is the demise of the cascading menu. This has been replaced by a simple menu bar, along with links in the right column. I hope these changes improve the experience and usefulness of Practical Ethics.

cheers, Bill
